Edmonton Camera Club - Winner of Print Theme League competition 2019
06th March 2019 - 0 comments
The Print Theme competition at Edmonton CC comprises four rounds on four different themes with two prints in each round. At the end of the four rounds the six best scores are added together to decide on the winner. I got top marks for three of my images - both of the 'By water' theme and the snowy scene for 'A season of the year'. I did try to think outside-of-the-box a little with 'Dereliction of duty' for the kitchen scene; 'Just washed' for the 'By water' theme and 'The rainy season' for 'A season of the year'. My eight entries are below. Each year the themes change so new challenges await.

This year entrants could enter two images into three sections - I entered the Colour and Mono sections only.
As well as the award, I also got both of my mono entries accepted. (Scroll down to see.)

Harlow Photographic Society - Winner of Print League 2017-18
01st May 2018 - 0 comments
Possibly the most coveted trophy in the club as it is a print competition over four rounds with four different judges. Prints not only need to be a good image but also need to be well printed. I didn't start the season well but by round three I was two points in the lead and held onto that position in the fourth and final round.
The images I won the league with are below.

The three awards I needed for this distinction, can be seen below. They were achieved in Germany (DVF), England (Smethwick) and Canada (Toronto).

The albatross were in deep water off Stewart Island which itself if off the south of the South Island, New Zealand. The snowy banks are those of the River Elbe in Germany.

My image of a 'Juvenile dark chanting goshawk' has just won me a FIAP gold medal in the nature section of Toronto CC international salon of photography. I was absolutely thrilled to get the award. To give an idea of the size of the salon, there were 608 photographers who took part from 59 countries, though not all would have entered nature.

34 International Exhibition acceptances this week!
09th October 2014 - 0 comments
It's been quite amazing. I entered the Swansea Salon of Photography and the Danube Rtanji Circuit a couple of weeks ago and all of their results came out in the past few days. I got 7 acceptances from Swansea (from a possible 16) and 27 from the circuit of five salons in Danube Rtanji (from a possible 12 x 5 = 60). A circuit takes the same images which are seen and assessed by different sets of judges for each club in that circuit. Getting so many acceptances together definitely gives you a 'feel good factor'.

Here are all of the images that were accepted in Danube-Rtanji 2014, all but one were accepted in several salons in the circuit. 'Backstroke Break Through' and 'Red Limestone Tsingy' were accepted in all 5 salons of the circuit.
